PDR, a manufacturer in IR rework, test and inspection, is pleased to introduce the IR-TS Series of micro-focused HALT/HASS thermal test systems. The PDR IR-TS one bench top system and TS-2100 cabinet system have been designed to thermally cycle key critical components and assemblies to detect defects. Applications include testing electronic assemblies, electronic devices, bonded structures of plastics and ceramics in a wide variety of fields, including medical, automotive, avionics, space and defense.
Using the non-destructive duel thermal stress screening process, based on a variation of HALT/HASS principles, the systems are able to focus the testing on suspected problem areas to safely screen out early field failures caused by design, environmental, production and structural defects. In component testing, the PCB is preheated while the focused IR is aimed at the center of the component to directly heat up the die – in either cycle or step test modes to check the design for integrity. For solder-joint validation, the entire component is heated. The systems use the dual-zone IR heating and gas cooling process that independently heats the PCB and component in a safe thermal cycle, and can be used during live system/function HALT/HASS testing. The company work alongside test chambers so that users can focus on problem areas with the convenience of a benchtop system (TS One) – greatly accelerating the process during design testing. The rework systems remains at the forefront of Infrared Rework and test technologies by providing air nozzle free systems with advanced in-process control features and visible light for precision rework and HALT testing applications.
