Metcal announces plans to exhibit at productronica 2017, scheduled to take place Nov. 14 – 17, 2017. The company has been making a strategic move in industrial ingenuity by introducing multiple new products in 2017. The company will show its Connection Validation (CV) selective soldering system at for the first time, along with a range of soldering tools.

CV is the latest technological innovation that is reinventing hand soldering. Built on the company’s SmartHeat technology, used in all of their soldering systems, CV evaluates the quality of the solder joint by calculating the intermetallic compound formation and providing closed-loop feedback to the operator, mitigating risk in the process. Additionally, the company released the CV monitoring software that will improve solder process traceability and create a performance baseline to quickly analyze soldering performance, identify changes in your solder conditions, and allow for changes to the process to be made.

Robotic soldering is becoming more commonplace as manufacturers look to reduce risk and increase productivity. The CV selective soldering system addresses these needs by combining its CV technology and a Smart Interface system. CV reduces unnecessary dwell time by signaling to the system to move to the next solder joint in the program after a good joint is formed. The Smart Interface system simplifies the programing process by integrating system controls through an easy to use interface.

Hot air pencil

The HCT2 series of Digital Hot Air Pencils have always included an array of nozzle sizes for precision control. The HCT2–200’s improved thermal performance allows the user to target a larger variety of components. New features include a 200-watt ceramic heater and dual stage air pump, a replaceable hand-piece, and optional bent nozzles for easier access and use under a microscope.

High thermal demand

The High Thermal Demand (HTD) solution, comprised of a new hand-piece and a selection of thermal efficient cartridges, is designed for use with the company’s MX line of power supplies. It transforms a MX-series soldering station into a powerhouse for applications with high thermal loads, such as dense boards, without damaging sensitive components.

Solder tip cleaner

The innovative Solder Tip Cleaner removes oxidation and extends the life of your soldering tip. This easy-to-use cleaner senses the tip when inserted into the unit and activates automatically, saving the operator time.
